Ideas for 60th in 2007
Gaining full accord for an event is most unlikely but we should aim for something that INcludes most people rather than EXcludes. To that end the sharing of our views is quite worthwhile if we can aim toward concensus. Here's what some of the class suggest and we welcome your two cents.
Ruth Herd Beck says she liked the 55th at Split Rock and would appreciate a resort or hotel setting. Overnight is good as many of us don't like to drive in the dark.
This gave me an opening to propose the same thing I have been offering for several years. The Golden Inn in Avalon has wonderful Big Band Weekends that are cost conscious, have great food, mostly people our age, dancing for those who want to dance and a great opportunity to spend a whole weekend together. Will you please visit the site and give it some thought and let me know what you think before the luncheon? Just go to: http://www.goldeninn.com/getaway.htm

Bruce.....In answer to "blog".....I suggested before and shall do it again........everyone seems to like the casinos and seem to come at some point in time. I would recommend the Mohegan Sun over Foxwoods anytime and their restaurants and shows are great. Buses come all the time with "freebies" involved. It would be "different." We went Sat nite for FANTASTIC Tom Jones show in the arena and lucked out with seats FIFTH row CENTER from stage in 10,000 seat arena with about 8000 in attendance!
MORE::::Another "plus" for "refreshing change" I suggested for SECOND time is we do have many budget motels in area WITH SHUTTLE SERVICE so no need to pay casino hotels Am sure this is a known fact to all but "just in case" A personal reason I do not like your weekend suggestion is those without "partners" would just sit around and watch the others dance?
Shifty's reaction:
Would certainly not be interested in going to a Seaside resort for a reunion. My idea of a reunion is to be with old friends and chat about times past. Let our "own" entertain us. Ask for volunteers to give a brief discourse on high points in their lives, interesting trips they have made, acheivements of their children etc.,but limit such to 10 minutes or so.
That, to me, is a REUNION. Have a great time at the luncheon and say HELLO for us. Bob & Ginger
And from Ruthy:
I have been to Avalon and it is quite far from New Hope and I would be the closest member from the class. Also, for me, it has prices for couples--I hate couple things. Also it may be pricey for some of the members of the class. But, do talk about it at the class meeting July 19.
From Doris and Bill Ackerman:
I think it would be nice to go on a cruise. We have gone on the Mississippi River. You can go for three or four days or longer if want to.
