From Bob Kellow

Last year, I believe it was in September that the last reunion was held, Mary Ann suggested that I might go alone to the reunion. I demurred, we had just moved from Waretown to a new house in Whiting. Our house was too big for cleaning and Mary Ann's wheelchair mobility, so now we live in a house that has only one floor and two bedrooms. My daughter Penny left her missionary post in Berkina Faso, Africa to help tend to her mother. A real blessing to both of us.

I visited the 1947 classmate blog and enjoyed your article about the 2nd World War. When I was about 12 years old, a friendship developed between and one Bill Strunk who was in the Army. One day while visiting my grandmother, she told me that Bill was killed on Anzio beach head. That was a sad day for a 13 year old. Bill had been in the Army for several years and was a sergeant. Compared to that the gas rationing, meat shortages, and signs saying "A slip of the lip may sink a ship" pales into insignificance. We didn't have politically correct distortions in those days, we bought "war bonds," not defense bonds. Remember the "old folks home" which has been politely changed to senior citizens residence, etc. etc. etc.

BTW>>>>> Bob was also wondering if the others find they run into references to the year 1947 a bit more often than you might expect.
